The WordPress upgrade plugin appears to work well stepping through all the necessary items to backup and upgrade the WordPress software.
Now, like a lot of other software, the main bit of coordination is waiting on plugins to be available that are compatible and tested with the new core blogging software.
There have been a number of reports of problems upgrading WordPress mostly associated with logging into the admin panel. Tips for correcting the problems include:
– Backup the database
– deactivate any plugins
– Make sure to logout before upgrading
– Clear cookies before logging in the first time
